Options Menu:
Alarm text: Default = None. Shows the text or caption of an alarm in the top left corner of the timer display. Pressing escape (Esc) on the keyboard clears the text.
> None: Nothing shows.
> Alarm: Shows the text of the last alarm to sound.
> Next Alarm: Shows the text and other settings of the next alarm due except when there are dialog alarms as the dialog alarms now automatically include the settings of the next alarm in the bottom half of the dialog.
Alarm period: Default=5 seconds. Brings up a dialog where the maximum time an alarm will sound can be set between 1 and 600 seconds. If you are using your mobile phone for alarms the alarm period needs to be at least long enough to dial up otherwise the connection will be terminated before the phone has had a chance to ring, we suggest a minimum of 10 seconds.
Alarm defaults: Sets the default alarm types for new timers. To set the alarm type for individual alarms use the Properties dialog, Timer>Alarms or the popup menu Alarms.
>PC Sound: Default=true - checked: Uses your PCs sound card to play a sound.
>Phone: Default = false - unchecked: When checked causes the program to dial up a mobile (usually) phone using a modem (if any) attached to your computer. When the phone rings in response to an alarm, don't answer the call as you will incur call charges. Simply reject the call. You can't use phones as alarms unless you have a dialup modem attached or installed on your computer. see also: Dialup menu
>Dialog : Default = false - unchecked: Displays an alert dialog on your desktop. The text in the alert dialog is the name or caption as set in the timer properties dialog. The alert dialog doesn't close automatically and a new one isn't created for each alarm. If an alert dialog is already visible when another alarm fires, the color will change and the text will change to that of the timer name/caption in question.
>Launch : Launches a program with the parameters as defined in the timer properties dialog.
Note: You can opt to use any or all three alert types but you can't use none. If you uncheck all items the program will default to the PC Sound option.
Allow keyboard unlocking: Default is enabled - checked. Timers can be locked using the keyboard or the mouse (see the Action menu and Shortcuts) to prevent accidental moving or setting of times. Allow keyboard unlocking when it's unchecked prevents timers being unlocked using the keyboard except for the fairly unlikely combination of Ctrl+Alt+U. Note: You won't be able to close the program down if there are unexpired timers and all timers are locked.
Auto: >Reset origin: Automatically resets the origin if the time pointer position is greater than half the width of the timer panel.
>Delete spent: Automatically deletes timers once they have fired, there's no warning or requirement for confirmation. The timer will just be deleted once it has fired. Fully locked timers will not be deleted.
Blank display: - Prevents the program from updating lines arrows and time indicators. Blanking the display consumes less processing power. Moving the mouse over the control or pressing Esc on the keyboard or moving the mouse over a timer will restore the display.
Font size: Default=10. Allows you to change the size of the font used for the display of times.
>Large: Sets the size to 16.
>Small: Sets the size to 10.
>Choose: Allows you to choose a size between 6 and 24.
-
>Dialog: Default=8. Allows you to choose a different font and size for dialog alarms.
Main hints: Default=On - checked. Toggles the display of the main window 'hover' hints.
Maximum time span: Default=2 hours. Sets the maximum time span for visible timers. This doesn't prevent you from setting times in excess of the maximum you just won't be able to see them or adjust them using the mouse. You will be able to see the time from now as the display of the time never goes outside the window extremities.
Play sound on Start: Default=Off - unchecked. When checked causes the default sound to play when the session starts.
Print event prompt: Default = checked. Prompts you to print out events as they have happened when the timing sequence terminates. see Printing
Prevent logoff: Windows 98/ME only. If checked, closes the program with the usual checks such as whether or not a schedule is set to run and wether timers are locked and the program is running. You are presented with the option to halt logoff/shutdown. This doesn't work on NT based operating systems so the option isn't available.
Show date: Default=disabled - unchecked. The indicator which appears above a timer when it is being moved shows the date by default. If you don't need to display the date, uncheck this item.
Show times from now: Default=On - checked. see Toolbar: Show times from now.
Snap: Dependent on maximum time span 30 seconds when installed. Causes timers to 'snap' to values not exactly divisible by the snap value when moving timers with the mouse.
Timer hints: Default=off - unchecked. Toggles the display of the hints that appear over each timer. These show the time and the name (if any) given to the timer in question. They can be a bit irritation while moving timers so turn them off if you don't need them.
Timers sound: Default=default.wav. Lets you choose what sound you want when the alarm fires. There is a selection of wav sounds in the Application folder\Sounds.
Twelve hour: Default=false - unchecked. Causes the time to display in twelve hour format.
Volume: Default=50. Brings up a dialog where the level of the alarm sound can be increased. This doesn't increase the sound level of any music (or other sound) already playing, except if it happens to be playing when the alarm goes off.

Short menus: When checked prevents some of the lesser used menu items from showing.
